Kintyre Food Bank, which is currently operating from Campbeltown Town Hall, has amended its opening hours.
It is now open from 10am to noon on Tuesdays and Fridays and, for the time being, no referral is needed.
For anyone unable to physically visit the food bank, arrangements can be made for delivery by telephoning 07936 034600 during the day.
Due to the current extra pressure on the food bank, which services the whole of Kintyre, East Kintyre Windfarm Trust and West Kintyre Windfarm Trust have each donated £1,000 to the charity. East Kintyre Windfarm Trust has also donated £5,000 from the Cour Fund to Shopper-Aide due to its increased demand across the length and breadth of the peninsula.
Councillor Alastair Redman said: ‘The news of the East and West Kintyre Windfarm Trusts donating £1,000 each to the Kintyre Food Bank to help during the current health crisis is very welcome news indeed.
‘This is yet another example of how this tragic health crisis that the world is experiencing is bringing out the very best in our local communities.
‘A huge thanks to the windfarm trusts for making these contributions that will greatly aid the terrific and selfless work that the Kintyre Food Bank is doing.
‘Now more than ever local groups like these are depended on by so many. I would encourage those who feel able to donate money and time to great local causes like this to do so where ever possible.’
