Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs, Land Reform and Fishing, Tim Eagle MSP, secured a rare Parliamentary victory for the Scottish Conservatives over the UK Labour Government's changes to Agricultural Property Relief and Business Relief.
In a Scottish Conservative-led debate, the motion tabled by Tim Eagle secured a majority of votes from other parties to call on the Labour Government to axe the Family Farm Tax.
It comes following the Scottish Conservatives launch of a new campaign calling on Labour to 'Stop the Family Farm Tax'.
Scottish Conservative MSP Tim Eagle said:
"Labour's Family Farm Tax not only puts the future of our family farms in jeopardy, but it also poses risks for our domestic food security and the economy.
"Our farmers, crofters and growers are the lifeblood of rural Scotland and they are the custodians of our countryside. The changes set out by the Chancellor Rachael Reeves risks all of that.
"Now that Parliament has expressed it's will, the ball is now in Labour's court.
"If they pursue these cruel and reckless changes, they will never be forgiven by rural Scotland."
