Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has welcomed a decision by Argyll and Bute Council to reject the work-place car-park levy.
The Scottish Conservative MSP said: “The SNP’s car-park tax, foisted on them by their Green coalition partners, is basically a poll-tax on wheels which would have penalised working people who rely on their car to get to work.
“I’m very pleased that our local councillors have rejected it despite the fact that the council’s income has been cut by the SNP Government.
“Why on earth should people pay for the privilege of parking when very often there is no practical public transport alternative, and when the SNP have failed to meet their part of the bargain by allowing key roads like the A82 and the A83 to become so unreliable?”
