Argyll and Bute Council's Policy Lead for Education has reassured young people in the area that they will get the credit they deserve for their studies, despite this year's exams being cancelled.
Councillor Yvonne McNeilly's statement comes after the Scottish Government made the annoucement earlier this week that, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, there will be no academic exams this year.
Councillor McNeilly, said: “Young people who were due to sit their exams this year are, undoubtedly, feeling anxious and worried that these will no longer go ahead. I want to reassure them that we are doing everything we can to make sure they still get the credit they deserve.
"Pupils have put a lot of hard work and commitment into their studies, and it is vital that this is recognised.
"The staff at the SQA are committed to working with us to ensure that learners receive their results by the 4 August and that their hard work is rightly and fairly recognised, to enable them to progress on to further learning or work.”
