A children’s TV drama made by BBC Alba which won a prestigious international award has been accorded praise in the Scottish Parliament.
An episode of “Gaisgich Òga an Dàrna Cogaidh” (Kids of Courage) which told the story of children caught up in the bombing of Clydebank during the Second World War won an award in the 11-15 years category at the Prix Jeunesse International 2020, an international festival which promotes television for young people.
Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron, who submitted a motion to the Scottish Parliament highlighting the achievement, said: “The events of the Second World War continue to resonate very strongly in communities across Scotland and there are many people who, as children, retain vivid memories of the war.
“It is inspiring that talented people from today’s younger generation have come together to create a TV production which has dramatised so effectively an event like the Clydebank blitz.
“And it is wonderful that those events have been brought to life through the medium of Gaelic.
“My congratulations to all the creative people who have had their achievement recognised by this award.”
