The achievements of a local head teacher and two teaching staff from Argyll and Bute have been highlighted in the Scottish Parliament.
Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron has submitted a motion in which he praised the efforts which led to their nomination as finalists in the 2020 Scottish Education Awards.
Mr Cameron said he was delighted that David Mitchell, of Dunoon Grammar, is amongst the three finalists in the Head Teacher of the Year category, while Paul Gallanagh, also of Dunoon Grammar, and Susan Carter, of Kilmartin Primary, are two of the final three nominees for Teacher of the Year.
He said: “It is very noteworthy that Argyll and Bute has produced no fewer than three finalists in this very prestigious national competition.
“Our teachers have a very special responsibility which is to nurture our young people so that they achieve their full potential.
“In the opinion of their colleagues, their pupils and the parents and guardians who nominated them, David, Paul and Susan have done just that.
“I am delighted that they have achieved this recognition for their efforts.”
