Amanda Hampsey, the Scottish Conservative and Unionist general election candidate for Argyll, Bute and South Lochaber, has recently visited the Isle of Tiree.
During her visit, she attended the annual general meeting at the Tiree High School and spoke with local residents about education policy and the importance of bolstering island community educational facilities.
Afterwards, Amanda also visited the construction site for the new Tiree business units that will go on to help strengthen the island’s commerce. She was happy to hear of the optimism from local entrepreneurs.
Small island communities such as Tiree play such an important role in the Argyll, Bute and South Lochaber constituency and it is therefore very important that they are supported and not left behind.
Amanda said, “It's always such a pleasure to visit Tiree and meet the many wonderful islanders. This trip has further emphasised the importance of supporting island communities for me.
“The SNP government too often ignore places such as Tiree. This is evident with their shambolic handling of a multitude of ferry scandals and their proposals for highly protected marine areas that would hurt the local fishing industry.
“It is therefore so important that the constituency gets a strong Scottish Conservative and Unionist MP who will make sure we are ‘doing for’ our islands and not ‘doing to’ them.”
