Two local politicians are encouraging local eateries, and their customers, to take advantage of the Government’s new “Eat Out to Help Out” scheme.
The scheme offers a discount to diners every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, of up to 50% of the cost of their meal.
Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron said: “This imaginative scheme from the UK Government is aimed at helping hotels, restaurants, and cafes generate income during the earlier part of the week, which is usually quieter.
“Argyll and Bute has many fantastic eating establishments and I really hope this scheme will provide them with a helping hand as they reopen after the lockdown.
“I would encourage business owners to log on to the UK Government website and explore what the scheme has to offer.”
Councillor Andrew Vennard (Oban North and Lorn) said: “As there’s no limit to the number of times customers can use the offer I really hope local people and visitors alike will find this a unique opportunity to sample the terrific fare available here, while at the same time knowing they are helping to tide over a local business.
“Oban is very dependent on the hospitality sector so this scheme could scarcely come at a better time as we seek to get the town moving forward.”
