I was delighted to attend my latest surgery in Carradale today. Many of my constituents have raised important matters.
The large pothole outside of the Carradale Village hall is a real hazard and I have stressed the importance of filling in this pothole and many other in Carradale to our roads department.
The work that needs done at Dippen Bridge to remove vegetation growing on the structure has also been brought to my attention time and time gain. Sadly the work that is required for this defect has been assessed as low priority by our roads department. As always this work will be carried out as resources allow, with structures which have high risk / “High Priority” defects typically having resources allocated earlier than “Low Priority” work. I'm am told that all work under Argyll and Bute Council’s Revenue Structural Maintenance Programme is prioritised on a risk based method through the ongoing Inspection Programme, as we do have to ensure all structures for which Argyll and Bute Council are responsible are assessed fairly and equally when allocating available funding.
The damaged Woodside car park & pavement is an issue that arose last year and was passed to ACHA at the time. The car parking area is not part of the Public Road Network and was developed solely for the use by the residents, as the existing carriageway around the scheme is too narrow to allow parking outside any of the residents property and still leave room for a vehicle to pass. Although this is not the responsibility of the council, I have asked for ACHA to be contacted directly as this has been dragging on for far to long and must be fixed.
As a result of the Brackley cemetery work a large amount of earth and gravel have been left at the site. I have been told by our roads team that this has been placed there as it was excess from lair-related works and will be removed as soon as the staff become available to do so.
I will continue to work with the local East Kintyre Community Council and our council officials to get these matters and so many more sorted.
