Despite the wet weather it was great to visit my constituents in Skipness today. I have been hearing about the constant problems being caused by flooding on our trunk roads and our B roads. It is vital that along with much needed resurfacing we must address our roads almost not being driveable due to flooding. New road repairs simply won't last if our ditches and culverts are not kept clear.
Despite the challenges facing our road's teams it was great to see improvements being made and it was good to check up on the work being done.
There continues to be huge and justifiable concerns raised by many local residents about the lack of a local village shop and the detrimental affect it is having on the local economy. In my opinion Skipness' seemingly absentee landlords have a moral duty to do all that they can to make sure that the people of Skipness keep their local shop. If this means investing in refurbishment of the shop building then so be it.
I will continue to work all year round for a better deal for Skipness and every single corner of the Kintyre and Islands ward.
