Despite the frosty weather it was great to be back in Tarbert again today. I spoke to local business proprietors and other local residents about local roads, social housing conditions, the planned new pylons, lack of available parking at peak season times and the shocking condition of the trunk road network. While there has been some limited progress in certain areas it is clear from what I am both hearing and seeing that much more still needs to be done.
Some recent pavement resurfacing has been welcomed and improvements in external cladding insulation to many ACHA properties will certainly make a positive difference over this winter period.
However Tabert's beautiful and iconic scenery is one of, if not it's main, draw for tourism and the planned pylon builds would be a massive blow to the local tourism economy. On top of that so many local residents have worries that their houses prices will be devalued by this development. I hope the developers heed this public anger and make appropriate changes to their plans.
Argyll's trunk road network has dangerous potholes that have the potential to burst tyres and cause accidents. It's high time some decent investment was made by BEAR Scotland and the urban obsessed Scottish Government in the A83.
