Highlands and Islands MSP, Donald Cameron has challenged Cabinet Secretary for Health, Jeane Freeman, to ensure that the review into bullying at NHS Highland in Argyll and Bute delivers lasting change.
In his question to Ms Freeman, Mr Cameron quoted from an individual testimony in the Sturrock Report which stated that: “for staff on the frontline in Argyll and Bute defensive and intimidating behaviour is normal practice that we endure on a daily basis”.
Speaking later the Scottish Conservative MSP said: “The review has to do more than just look at the evidence, which already exists in abundance - it must deliver profound change to the workplace so that incidents of bullying like these never happen again.
“NHS staff in Argyll and Bute should be able to go to work confident that they can put patients first and deliver a first-class heathcare service in a supportive environment.
“The Cabinet Secretary has promised that the NHS Highland Board will deliver an Action Plan which will deliver for NHS staff. I shall make every effort to ensure that she, and the Board, deliver on that commitment.”
