I was able to pass on my serious concerns about certain sections of road and pavements to Policy Lead for Roads Cllr Roddy McCuish today in Kilmory, particularly in relation to the road outside Laphroaig Distillery which has been subsiding and large cracks appearing.
As we see more distilleries open on Islay and the current distilleries increase their production every year, the continued strain of our roads network will continue to bite. It's clear that a special case must be made for Islay as it grows into an industrial powerhouse.
With local council budgets being cut by the Scottish Government on a regular basis, maintaining our roads will become more and more of a challenge. I will continue to push relentlessly for more roads investment.
