I was delighted to attend the latest Rinns Ladies Group meeting in Portnahaven as well as catching up with my other local constituents.
I had the opportunity to listen to numerous concerns including lack of proper street signage in the village, dog fouling, poor local road condition and some justifiable anger over recent ferry disruptions.
I have also been hearing lots of positive comments about the increase in local broadband speed and over all internet connectivity. I had the opportunity to speak to the hard working front line Openreach workers directly as they were busily upgrading the system in Portnahaven and thanked them for all their hard work.
Despite the huge leaps we have been seeing in our internet service in the Kintyre and Islands ward I have been receiving numerous complaints from my constituents in some of the more remote areas out side of Port Ellen and in the village of Bowmore in Elder Crescent and Hawthorne lane who have informed myself that Openreach have not yet installed fibre broadband to boxes from exchange.
I have contacted BT Openreach to reminded them of the importance of making sure every corner of the Kintyre of the Islands ward enjoys the benefits of fibre broadband. I will work relentlessly to make sure that in time no area is bypassed and left with a super internet service.
