Bed blocking is costing NHS Scotland £125 million a year as one in thirteen hospital beds are being blocked by delays in sending patients home, with one of the main reasons being a delay in care packages for elderly patients.
This points to a situation where demands are not being met and a growing concern our hospitals are facing a growing beds crisis. The real cost of this failure is to the patients who are in the wrong care settings, causing misery and uncertainty to themselves and their families.
Despite all their promises, the SNP has categorically failed to eradicate delayed discharge. They need to stop their Indyref2 obsession, and get back to the job of fixing our NHS.
