The close of nominations sees the first success for Scottish Conservatives in the Local Elections.
With nominations matching the number of vacancies in Ward 1, voting will not be required. Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate Donald Kelly is therefor elected unopposed to serve as Councillor for South Kintyre on Argyll and Bute Council.
Argyll and Bute Council has 36 councillors who serve in 11 different wards across the area. Voting for councillors in the remaining 10 wards will take place on 4 May 2017, the date of the national local government elections.
