It was great to catch up with my constituents Portnahaven, Port Wemyss and across the Rinns of Islay today at the latest T in the Church event at Portnahaven Parish Church. The T in the Church hard working team of volunteers have been raising thousands of pounds for improvements, repairs and maintenance of the Portnahaven Parish Church. Last year alone they incredibly raised over £6,900 and are working hard to beat that record this year. To help the cause I made a donation of some Tunnock's Teacakes which were very well received indeed.
I was also very happy to hear that local residents were delighted to have their bottle banks and other recycling bins returned after our local council briefly made the decision to take them away. I had contacted the roads and street lightning department that are responsible for these matters and made it very clear that these bins must be put back. I'm please that our Council rapidly came to the correct decision and restored our recycling facilities.
Later on I was delighted to attend the Islay Community Council inaugural meeting and spoke to the new intake of Islay's Community Councillors about their local concerns.
If there is an event you would like me to attend in my role as your local Councillor then please don't hesitate to contact me.
