In Bowmore today I was very busy speaking to my constituents and leafleting. The rough and in some cases hazardous surfaces of local pavements are raised as a top local concern. This is yet another example of why from my position on our council administration I'm pressing for funding for pavement and road works across the Kintyre and Islands ward on a regular basis.
The sub-par condition and sluggish repair of some social housing stock is brought up on a regular basis by constituents. Many of these issues, which often relate to windows and doors as well as damp and mould problems, can't simply be left on the back burner. Since being elected in 2017, and long before, I have been campaigning hard for better housing conditions in my ward.
Like in so many areas throughout Kintyre and the Islands digital connectivity has improved in the past few years but nowhere near at the same rate as Scotland's central belt. We still suffer from large digital black spots across Argyll and Bute and there is little doubt in my mind that it is stifling our tremendous industrial and broad economic growth.
As I have said in the past many times before as your local councillor I aim to be visible and accessible in every corner of my council ward as often as possible.
Cllr Alastair Redman
