While putting out my latest survey in Port Ellen and Bowmore I was able to look into the numerous complaints about potholes, littering, social housing condition and street lighting faults.

The largest number of complaints I have been recently receiving from across my council ward have been about street lighting. From single faults effecting just one light to whole sections being out. In Port-Ellen from Charlotte Street to the Maltings there are no functioning lights. The same problem has occurred in Port-Wemyss right across Shore street.

I have contacted the roads and street lighting department and asked them to fix these faults and many others brought to my attention with haste. Having whole streets without proper lighting is very unsafe to say the least.

I will keep pressing our council to get our street lights fixed. If there are any street lights not working in your area or any other matter you wish for me to raise on your behalf please don't hesitate to contact me.
