Despite the odd heavy shower it was a mostly sunny day in Port Ellen while I was out canvasing and leafleting with my newest volunteer. Road flooding and poor overall road condition continues to be raised. This is particularity bad on Mansefield Rd and without proper resurfacing this situation will only get worse.
I unfortunately noticed some exposed wiring and crumbling rusty metal coverings on some of the lamp posts in the village. These are in my opinion a safety hazard and must be properly repaired.
Digital connectivity is also a pressing local concern for many of my constituents in Port Ellen.
The SNP made a grand promise in 2016 that every home and business could access super fast broadband by 2021, and I know many people who welcomed this at the time.
But it is now clear that the SNP Government have made an absolute hash of it, and now many people in rural and remote communities look set to miss out on better broadband.
