New Scottish Conservative Highlands and Islands Regional MSP Tim Eagle has vowed to be a champion for the Highlands and Islands Region in the Scottish Parliament, after he was formally sworn-in to the Scottish Parliament.
Tim Eagle takes over from Donald Cameron, who resigned his regional seat in the Scottish Parliament to become a Minister in the Scotland Office.
Tim has pledged to continue to fight for better ferry services, access to reliable broadband and mobile coverage, and investment in local road infrastructure, among other top local issues.
Highlands and Islands MSP (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party) Tim Eagle said:
“It is the honour of a lifetime to be able to represent the region that has given me so much over so many years.
“Donald Cameron did an excellent job of raising important local issues in the Scottish Parliament, whether that was highlighting the Scottish Government's disastrous management of ferry services or the frustrations felt by many people about the lack of action on delivering a long-term solution for the A83 Rest and Be Thankful.
“As a former Councillor in Moray, I am acutely aware of the unique issues that communities across the Highlands and Islands face, and in particular, the pressures on local finances to deliver meaningful solutions to those challenges.
“Nevertheless, I vow to continue to fight for communities across the Highlands and Islands in the Scottish Parliament, and I will work with all politicians to deliver better results for our communities.
