Highlands and Islands Scottish Conservative MSP Donald Cameron is to attend a meeting of the Dunoon Ferry Action Group on Friday evening.
The meeting is being held after years of promises to improve the Dunoon-Gourock route which have come to nothing.
Donald said: “The failure to deliver improvements to the service is nothing short of scandalous.
“The LibDems and Labour when they were in power in Holyrood between 1999 and 2007 made promises. And for the last 12 years the SNP have been making promises. And nothing concrete has been done in all that time.
“I have decided to attend the meeting to see what I can do to help break the deadlock as the people of Dunoon and the surrounding area deserve better than this.
“I look forward to seeing the other community campaigners and debating the options available to us.”
Cllr Bobby Good (Scottish Conservative – Dunoon), has welcomed Donald’s participation.
“It is great that Donald is joining us for the meeting.
“He is very aware of the challenges facing communities across Argyll and Bute which are very vulnerable to failing transport links either by land or by sea.
“We need all the help we can get and I am sure he will do his utmost to put pressure on the SNP Government to at long last do something positive about the ferry service.”
