Commenting on news that the linkspan at Gourock is to be closed until further notice Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron said:

"This is yet another disappointing announcement for ferry users dependent on this service. I very much hope that the linkspan can be restored to full working order as soon as possible to minimise inconvenience to those who are dependent on it.

"It seems extraordinary that such a vitally important part of the transport infrastructure affecting travel to Dunnon and the wider Cowal area should continue to be so unsatisfactory.

"The SNP Government has had years to deliver a robust and reliable service between Dunoon and Gourock, and it continues to be found wanting."
