Jamie McGrigor, Highlands & Islands MSP, is backing Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Great Daffodil Appeal 2014.
Jamie spoke last night in the Scottish Parliament during a Member’s debate on the appeal. He paid tribute to the “wonderful nurses and volunteers who maintain this fabulous charity”. He paid tribute in the debate also to Marie Curie herself and her husband for their pioneering work which paved the way for X-rays.
Jamie has served as one of the Scottish patrons for Marie Curie Cancer Care for many years now and, in the last session of Parliament, he raised over £17,000 for the charity by compiling and publishing a book of MSPs’ recipes.
Commenting today, Jamie said:
“I am very proud to be a Patron of Marie Curie Cancer Care, and was pleased to contribute to the Member’s debate, which rightly highlighted the Great Daffodil Appeal this April and the outstanding work the charity does in supporting terminally ill patients and their families.
“I would encourage as many of my constituents as possible during April to purchase a Marie Curie Daffodil pin badge in return for a small donation. Every £20 raised pays for a Marie Curie nurse to care for someone in their home for one hour”.
