I was very happy to meet up with so many of my constituents on the Isle of Jura while attending my latest surgery there.
There is a strong need to continue to promote Jura's growing tourism economy and do all that is possible to encourage the local population growth including making sure there is more social housing available on the Island.
Much like my constituents on the Isle of Islay, many Jura residents continue to justifiably raise the large difference in the amount of tax revenue that leaves the Isle and the little investment we receive from central government. No matter what your political stripe there is near universal agreement that much more needs to be done. Particularly when it comes to Jura's roads that have numerous large craters that are wreaking havoc on vehicles of all types.
Without fit for purpose roads infrastructure, future economic growth may well be under threat. While physical infrastructure is still left wanting on Jura there is also the matter of local digital infrastructure that is still in many areas on the island lagging behind the urban centres in our country.
In my role as policy lead for economic growth I will continue to lobby relentlessly to put an end to the digital black spots across Argyll and Bute.
Whether it be ferry issues, roads network damage, housing shortages or many of the other pressing matters that face my constituents I will continue tirelessly to get a better deal for the Isle of Jura and the rest of the Kintyre and Islands ward.
