The Scottish Conservatives have said the SNP are “missing in action” over the rollout of a Covid vaccine delivery plan.
Shadow Health Secretary, Donald Cameron MSP, has called for an explanation after another week passed without answers on how exactly the vaccine would be delivered or the recruitment of vaccinators.
Ruth Davidson has repeatedly asked the First Minister if every health board across the country is ready to roll out the vaccine and if a potential postcode lottery has been avoided.
This week in the Scottish Parliament, the First Minister gave very vague answers about how the 2,000 vaccinators would be recruited.
Mr Cameron, who is a Highlands and Islands MSP, said: “There’s no room for error in the delivery of this potentially game-changing Covid vaccine.
“We still don’t have answers from the SNP on the recruitment of staff to deliver the vaccine, how medical professionals will do this as well as their usual work, what will be expected of GPs, or which elements of the flu jab delivery system will be used.
“As a Highlands and Islands MSP, I’m acutely conscious of the logistical challenge of delivering the vaccine to the many remote and island communities in my region, which is a matter of increasing concern.
“The flu jab shambles we saw this year must be avoided and that won’t happen if the SNP keep their plans hidden from view. They need to fill in the blanks and quickly.”
