The Islay village of Port Ellen will benefit from almost three-quarters of a million pound investment in new community facilities.
Islay councillor Alastair Redman welcomed the £746,223 funding boost, saying, “For many years Port Ellen has been a major factor in Islay’s significant overall growth, with many visitors flocking to the town and with a number of our distilleries close by. I’m delighted that it’s now benefiting from this major investment which will help create a new community hub for the town. This kind of new facility is much-needed in Port Ellen. I am sure this new facility will be very well received by locals and visitors alike, and will help Port Ellen continue to grow.”
The funding award of £746,223 for Port Ellen was secured through the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund operated by the Scottish Government, and is part of a £1.7m investment in Argyll and Bute overall.
