A community ferry service for the residents of North Kerrera has been welcomed, which will commences this Wednesday and will operate three days per week with four ferries per day.
Highlands and Islands MSP Donald Cameron said: “Well done to everyone on Kerrera for taking the initiative and getting this result.
“However, I have to say, that the community should not have been left in the lurch and lessons must be learnt by those in authority who should have been more active in resolving the problem when it arose.”
Local Councillor Sir Jamie McGrigor (Oban South and the Isles) added: “Some good news for Kerrera was long overdue after all the stresses of losing the service and I know there will be a big sigh of relief across the island.
“It’s also good news that the new road will, finally, provide a proper link between the communities at the north and south ends of Kerrera.
“Let’s all hope 2021 proves to be a better year for Kerrera than 2020 and that access to and from the island remains unhindered from now on.”
