The latest disruptions to landlines in numerous households in Portnahaven were unacceptable. Some of my constituents phone lines were down for up to 8 days before being restored. Those of us who live in smaller villages in the Kintyre and Islands ward should not have to put up with this third world level of service.

Along with the Vodafone signal being down this left many of my constituents feeling isolated and forgotten about by B.T and Vodafone.

I went door to door to make sure that my constituent's landlines were up and running again and while many were of course happy that this problem was fixed there was justifiable anger at the time taken in sorting this mess out.

While slow internet and mobile signal issues continue and are yet to be rectified I am hugely grateful to the local press for helping me highlight this issue and put pressure on B.T and Vodafone.

A huge thanks to our local front-line B.T team on Islay that worked tirelessly to rectify this problem.
